From a Gift to a Thriving Business: My Journey with Orchify

In 2020, I received a gift that would change my life—a hobby 3D printer. As someone who always loved tinkering and creating, I was thrilled. With a background in Mechanical Engineering and a job as a scenic/structural designer, I was eager to explore what I could make.

Within days of first running my new 3D printer, I designed and printed a unique planter as a gift. My wonderful girlfriend encouraged me to list it on Etsy, but I was hesitant. Eventually, I gave in and posted it with a makeshift listing—no real photos, just a basic rendering, and no detailed description. To my surprise, it sold overnight! That sale was a lightbulb moment for me. I realized that with a bit more effort, I could turn this into something real. I started refining my listings and brainstorming new designs.

At this time, it was the height of COVID-19 (September 2020). The theme park company I worked for shut down, leaving me jobless and anxious about the future. With no steady income, I began focusing a lot of effort into Orchify. I had little to invest—just my original printer and a few spools of filament—but I was determined. Slowly but surely, the business started to grow. Any excess profits after my bills were paid went back into the business, buying more printers. A couple of months after starting, we added a second printer to the makeshift bench in my closet. We then went to 5 printers, 8, 11…15…16…19… now we have 20+.

The past year has been a whirlwind. We moved out of our cozy condo and into a new house, dedicating the entire first floor to the business. It’s been an incredible journey, filled with challenges and triumphs.

I’ve learned so much along the way. From mastering the intricacies of 3D printing technology to navigating the world of e-commerce and running a business, every step has been a learning experience. I’ve had the privilege of connecting with customers from all over the world, each with their own unique stories and needs. Your feedback and support have been invaluable, helping me to refine my products and develop new ideas.

Orchify isn’t just a business; it’s a part of me. Each product is crafted with care and a passion for creating something special. I’m constantly inspired by the possibilities of 3D printing and the joy it brings to my customers. Whether it’s a custom planter, a unique home decor piece, or a personalized gift, I pour my heart into every design.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue this journey. I have big plans for expanding our product line and exploring new technologies. But most importantly, I want to keep building connections with you—our amazing customers. Your support has made this dream possible, and I’m incredibly grateful.

Thank you for being a part of the Orchify story. Together, we’re creating something truly special.
